Konnichiwa from Kagoshima!
Are you looking for somewhere exciting to go?
Have you heard of Kagoshima, Japan?
You might have and that’s probably why you’re on this site looking for more information but if you haven’t, well, that’s what I’m here for! I’ll tell you, or better yet I’ll show you how interesting Kagoshima is and who knows maybe one day you can experience it for yourself!
But maybe you are wondering who I am. My name is Amina and I am currently studying in Kagoshima University. I chose Kagoshima for many reasons, including the similarity in weather with my country, The Bahamas. Another reason I chose to study in Japan is for the simple fact that its technology is world-renowned and let’s be honest, the quality of work here is top-notch.
Kagoshima, in particular, has a peaceful and laid-back atmosphere just like my hometown. My major is aquaculture and quite frankly the best place to study this is right here at Kagoshima University!
I admit that at first, I was intimidated by the thought of coming to Kagoshima since I knew no Japanese and I thought that I would need to be at a certain level to live in Southern Japan. But, surprisingly, it is pretty easy to adapt to daily life here, especially thanks to the 6 months beginner’s Japanese course that was offered by Kagoshima University. If I can do it, so can you!
One of my best memories of my first week here in Kagoshima is how helpful many persons were since I knew practically nothing about the language or the area. I remember that I was lost and asked a lady for directions to a building and she walked over 10 minutes with me to help me find the place. That summarized my first impression of Kagoshima and there are a lot more that I would like to share. So I hope that you find this website interesting!
