Every year, in true Japanese fashion, there are Christmas illuminations in many places. This is something that many persons look forward to and it makes for a great family trip. Similar to events such as the “hanami” (Cherry Blossoms viewing), people gather and bask in the glorious lights.
So this year, my family and I went exploring some places that have been decorated. Usually, once Halloween passes, it’s time to display Christmas illuminations.
Amu Plaza Kagoshima’s 2016 Christmas illumination is called,
“Kagoshima Central Arc Japanese Traditional Style Winter Illumination”
And it is magnificent, one of the best and most original that I’ve seen in a while! It is truly worth a picture or two! These decorations were up from November 11th and should last until January 15th.
Then we went over to Dolphin Port. It was fully decorated from early November and these lights should be up until the end of February.
Following this, we went to the first illumination day of Minato Park (December 1st), and these will be taken down on January 31st.
Walking through Tenmonkan, we saw decorations showcasing people from all over the world in Yamakataya Department Store. These were so cute that I just had to take a picture!
