This was my first time going to this festival, it was held on November 12th, at the Ishibashi Memorial Park. I was told that Ishibashi means “stone bridge” and it has a nice, rich history, which is further explained in the small museum near the bridge. It also has a great view of Sakurajima. The contrast of the bridge with Sakurajima in the background just summarizes how beautiful Kagoshima City is.
Children were able to play tug-of-war and ride horses, as well as make miniature stone bridges. There was a flea market with extremely cheap goods (clothes, shoes and jewelry) from 100 yen to 500 yen. There were also different performances, including dances, singing, instrument playing and traditional Kagoshima plays with typical slang words only found in this area. All-in-all, quite entertaining! It started at 09:30 and ended at 16:00.
